If you've ever thought about selling your home and listing it for sale, there's a little inside baseball term that we use in the real estate industry called buying the listing. Most people will not tell you about this, but it is important for you, as the consumer to know this, a lot of times the average agent just wants the listing. So they will tell you whatever you want to hear from the price of your listing and say, I can get you $13 million. And what happens is that you as the consumer, he can get me $13 million. I'm going to hire him because he believes in my listing. Well, all we really want to do there is to buy the listing to give you the high price, knowing that if you get the listing, then they can actually negotiate you down after. As a consumer you should just be aware of this process because you don't always just want to go with the person that quotes the highest potential price for your listing. You want to hire the process, the process that will get you an offer that you want, at a price that you want, the terms that you want.
